Are you prepared to showcase your vocabulary skills and compete for some exciting rewards?
I'm excited to announce the return of our Portuguese Vocabulary Challenge! This fun contest invites students to compete in a friendly way to see who can recall the most words beginning with a certain letter, covering seven categories like food, verbs, and more.
Here's how it works:
To make sure everyone has a fair chance to win, I am dividing the competition into two groups. Beginners (A1 and A2 students) will have their own competition, and more advanced students will compete in another group.
This way, everyone can play fairly, no matter their level.
Each week, I'll unveil a mystery letter at the start of our lesson, giving you 3 minutes to brainstorm words beginning with that special letter across 7 categories
To ensure a level playing field, all competing students will be assigned the same letter each week to work with so that everyone has an equal opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and language skills.
How points are scored:
If your word matches one that other students have also listed on their competition cards, you'll receive 5 points for that word. But if your word is unique—meaning no one else has it—you'll earn 10 points.
Duration of the Competition
Additionally, the competition is structured to span 10 weeks, providing ample opportunities for everyone to accumulate points. With 10 distinct rounds, there's plenty of chances for you to climb the leaderboard and compete for the top spots. The 2024 Portuguese Vocabulary Competition will start on the 18th of March and the final rounds will be played on the week commencing on the 10th of June.
How to take part
I'll be personally inviting all current students, so there's no need for you to do anything extra if you're already studying with me. For former students interested in joining the competition, I'd be delighted to have you back—just drop me an email. Prizes
Each Friday, I'll unveil the weekly leaderboard on both our website and Facebook page, highlighting the week's top three performers.
After a fun 10-week contest, the top three participants of each league (A1-A2) and (Advanced group) will earn these fabulous prizes:
First Prize: A whopping 50% discount on that month's invoice, an incredible saving!
